Recent weapon/map updates

Post by ExO BIGG » June 4th, 2013, 8:22 am GMT+7

Hey guys, figured I'd start a thread to track any changes you come across in BTB (yes I know its BTIS, but that doesn't roll off the tongue as well!).

For starters there are a bunch of weapon adjustments explained in last week's bulletin:
http://blogs.halowaypoint.com/Headlines ... 52913.aspx

But basically they tried putting weapons in their proper ranges. Light rifle will be the best choice for the longest range battles in terms of time to kill and opponent. Light rifle and DMR will have the same red reticle range, but light rifle will do more damage faster since it shoots faster now. The DMR's range was reduced slightly, but is still longer range than the BR by a good amount. BRs range was shortened, but damage increased to a 4 shot kill.

SO what that all means is for super long scoped in battles light rifle should win, but don't get caught short range with a light rifle as it will lose to both DMR and get slaughtered by BR. If you've got a DMR and the other guy has a BR make sure you stay out side of his red reticle range so you can land your shots and he can't. Anything within the BRs red reticle range is subject to a 4 shot kill, so don't go there unless you've got a BR in your hand. All of the automatics have increased damages to combat against the BR, but are supposed to be harder to aim than before. Its closer to halo 3, where if the noob rushes you with an AR, if you can dodge enough bullets your BR will win the fight.

Something I never knew was the Saw kills in half the time of the AR. Interesting I thought.

Now onto the exciting stuff...

Mantis and Warthog chain gun got a whopping 35% damage increase. They feel so good to shoot. The hog is relevant again and kills faster than a reach hog did. As far as I can tell. I got an easy overkill on settler at medium range (outside plasma pistol and sticky range of course!).

BTB maps have gotten overall vehicle updates from what I've experienced.

-Vortex should be called BTB heavy's. Now both sides get a mantis, gauss hog, I think a ghost. Banshee spawns bottom mid (where rocket hog used to spawn), and its on a 1 minute respawn!!! (Gotta get my fun in before they realize thats a mistake and make it 3 minutes!).

-Ragnarok: in addition to the chain hog there is also a rocket hog. Laser still spawns top mid, but it no longer spawns as a random drop on either side of the map. It continues to spawn on top hill. Not sure on the timing yet.

-Meltdown: on first look its the same, except the garages now feature a gauss hog instead of a chain hog.

-Complex: minor changes with spawns inside the bases now and ghosts are moved to the back of the bases.

-Exile: haven't played it yet, will update once I do!

-Longbow: haven't played it yet, will update once I do!

Anyone else notice anything new? Keep the replies coming!

Concerning the recent weapons tuning what I have seen from the update makes Halo 4 more of a class based shooter with all the starting weapons so now you will start to see more so than before certain guns having a higher chance of winning at certain ranges so for example The Suppressor at extreme close ranges will beat someone who has a BR or DMR at said range if they are of similar skill based on this the order of weapons from left to right signify the capability of the weapon.

Range (Shortest to longest)

The Suppressor->Storm Rifle->AR->BR->Carbine->DMR->LR

Confirmed, slayer pro now has radar in big team(no more crying slobz). Gauss hogs removed from meltdown, and scorpion makes its return to big team on long bow (replacing gauss).
